FIREFIGHTERS said a spate of fires was caused by sparks from power tools and machinery at the weekend.
With dry and warm conditions continuing, the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) has warned that small fires can spread quickly and threaten properties and lives.
Fire conditions remain poor in most parts of the state, meaning it could take as little as a spark from a power tool or cigarette butt to ignite a serious bush fire.
QFRS has extended fire bans in several local government areas.
